What is IFT-01?+
IFT-01 is a portable dual-band ADS-B In receiver that receives 978 UAT and 1090 ES traffic, available FIS-B weather and GPS, then sends GDL 90 data over Wi-Fi to a compatible EFB.
What does dual-band mean?+
IFT-01 receives both U.S. ADS-B frequencies: 978 MHz UAT and 1090 MHz Extended Squitter.
What are 978 UAT and 1090 ES?+
They are the two ADS-B links used by aircraft in the United States. FIS-B ground-station broadcasts are carried on 978 UAT.
What is FIS-B?+
FIS-B is FAA-broadcast flight information over 978 UAT. IFT-01 has demonstrated actual ground-station reception, but every individual weather product has not yet been field validated.
Does weather require Internet?+
No. Available FIS-B products arrive by radio. Reception depends on coverage, altitude, terrain, line of sight and location.
Does IFT-01 require a subscription or its own app?+
No receiver subscription or proprietary IFT app is required. Your chosen EFB may require its own subscription.
How do I connect?+
Plug in IFT-01, connect your device to Wi-Fi IFT-01, open a compatible EFB, confirm the receiver connection and fly. Unplug when finished.
What is ift01.local?+
The optional local customer status page. If it does not open while connected to IFT-01, use 192.168.10.1.
Why might GPS show No Fix indoors?+
GNSS needs a useful view of the sky. Place IFT-01 where it has a clear view of the sky and allow time for a fix.
Why might 978 show Waiting?+
The receiver can be healthy while no current 978 aircraft messages are available.
Why might Weather show Waiting for FIS-B?+
No usable ground station or product is currently being received. Ground-level reception can be significantly more limited than airborne reception.
Does IFT-01 need to be shut down?+
No. Normal operation is plug in, use and unplug. No customer shutdown command is required.
Does it have a battery?+
No. IFT-01 uses external USB-C power.
Does it include AHRS?+
No. IFT-01 is focused on traffic, GPS, available FIS-B weather and GDL 90 delivery.
Which EFBs work?+
Avare is partially validated for actual traffic and external GPS. Other named EFBs remain not yet physically validated. See Compatibility for the current scope.
What affects reception range?+
Aircraft altitude, antenna placement, terrain, obstructions, the RF environment and location. IFT-01 does not advertise a guaranteed reception radius.
Is IFT-01 available to order?+
Not yet. The enclosure and production qualification remain in development.
Does IFT-01 replace ADS-B Out?+
No. IFT-01 is portable ADS-B In equipment for supplemental situational awareness.
